MOSOLF Auto Terminal Wilhelmshaven

Dr. Jörg Mosolf give the go-ahead for terminal operations with rolling cargo in Wilhelmshaven.

Wilhelmshaven, 02 October 2020 | Lower Saxony's Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Bernd Althusmann, today rang in the start of the MOSOLF Auto Terminal Wilhelmshaven together with Dr Jörg Mosolf, CEO of the MOSOLF Group. In future, MOSOLF will handle vehicles and other rolling cargo at the Wilhelmshaven site and develop other business areas in the medium term. With the expansion of its activities to include seaport logistics, the automotive logistics and technical services provider is opening a new chapter in its 65-year company history.

Wilhelmshaven is the youngest of now 38 locations in Europe within the MOSOLF network. For Dr. Jörg Mosolf, the potential of the port on the Jade is obvious: "Wilhelmshaven offers the best conditions for vehicle logistics, both on land and on water. We are starting with the handling of used vehicles in the Inner Harbour, where we have a strong partner at our side in Grimaldi, an important, globally active RoRo shipowner."
Grimaldi, which values the location on the Jade for its nautical advantages, was also very pleased with the start of activities in Wilhelmshaven. "We are pleased to be able to offer our customers regular shipments from this strong port location together with MOSOLF with immediate effect," explained Costantino Baldissara, Commercial, Logistics & Operations Director of the Naples-based Grimaldi Group.

For the MOSOLF Group, Wilhelmshaven is the starting point for the perspective development of international markets in the field of vehicle logistics and technical services, in order to specifically complement the portfolio of the German ports. To this end, MOSOLF has already invested around two million euros at the Wilhelmshaven site and is planning further investments as part of its future strategic development. The Wilhelmshaven branch is located in the GVZ at JadeWeserPort, from where the storage business with rental vehicles is already managed.

Dr. Jörg Mosolf expressed his express thanks for the constructive support on site, including from the city of Wilhelmshaven, Niedersachsen Ports, JadeWeserPort-Marketing, the port authority, customs, Rhenus Midgard and many other contacts.

During his visit to the MOSOLF Auto Terminal Wilhelmshaven, Dr Bernd Althusmann, Lower Saxony's Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitalisation, said: "We are delighted that the Port of Wilhelmshaven is a significant part of the growth strategy for the MOSOLF Group. With its presence in the GVZ as well as in the Inner Port, where the company is now starting its RoRo transhipment business, MOSOLF is providing important impetus for the location. It shows once again that Wilhelmshaven is truly living up to its role as a universal port."
