Partnerships and digitalization were the main themes that drew more than 70 key players in the logistics industry to the third German-Polish logistics forum in the Wroclaw region on June 21. The event was once again jointly organized by the Logistics Alliance Germany and Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V.

To open the forum, representatives from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the German-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Silesia presented the current status of digital development in their respective countries. Concrete examples and case studies gave the guests in attendance particular insights.

In his opening keynote presentation, Mr. Gronski of software company TimoCom presented a thought-provoking question: Can companies that are built upon modern digital technologies beat out the others in the new logistics world? He concluded that the wide variety of digital tools and opportunities that are already available can result in immediate advantages for the companies that take advantage of them.

Mr. ?urek from the Polish logistics company Ritex spoke about the practical applications of drones in logistics, both in- and outside storehouses. His company is positioning itself as an innovation leader in the Polish market and is already using drones for tasks such as taking inventory.

Mr. Michalski from SSI SCH?FER introduced three concrete application examples from Poland for automating internal processes, and emphasized the necessity of automatization for optimizing internal logistics.

In conclusion, Mr. Viethen from Lampe&Schwartze spoke about digitalization in transport insurance. As a representative of a traditional business in the insurance sector, he presented a completely digital solution for freight carriers and forwarders.

The six-person podium discussion that followed was an opportunity to illuminate additional options for action and bring the event attendees into the dialogue. The event offered the audience numerous points of connection for the subsequent bilateral exchange, during which the matchmaking service of LAG was in demand.

The following day, a group of LAG delegates met with representatives from the Lower Silesia Chamber of Commerce to discuss the differences between the German and Polish logistics markets. According to the Chamber?s president, Dr. Sebastian, Germany?s logistics companies are the preferred partners for transport headed for Western Europe. It is precisely this scenario that makes the matchmaking service of LAG a particularly useful tool for the members of the Chamber of Commerce.
